We’re continuing our exploration of the connections between AI and culture by tasking ChatGPT to analyse a complete book, Dom Casmurro, a classic of Brazilian literature.

Utilizing ChatGPT’s Advanced data analysis feature, we uploaded the book in .txt format, and prompted the AI to provide its answers based on a “fresh reading”, i.e., disregarding any previous knowledge about the story.

It delivered a sentiment analysis for each chapter, composed a sonnet, and offered an interpretation of the book’s main enigma.
